Quick & Easy Blueberry Parfait
I’m so excited to share this quick & easy blueberry parfait with you today! One thing I’ve found as a working momma is that it is always a good idea to have easy “go-to’s” for everything you can think of. It’s having a simple activity the kids can start anytime, anywhere. It’s the backseat box in the car I keep filled with a few toys, travel activities, wipes, diapers, and snacks. Most often in our house though, it’s having a handy set of recipes that can go together in a flash.
There is so much to love about this easy blueberry parfait recipe! It has the ability to change based on the ingredients in your fridge. There are so many ways to make this personal to you and your family. I’m going to share all the variations we’ve tried below. If you’ve got any suggestions for how you’d make yours, please let me know! We may give it a try and add it to the list!
Basic Ingredients for an Easy Blueberry Parfait
To make a quick & easy blueberry parfait, you really need just a few basic ingredients:
- Blueberries
- Yogurt
- Granola
- Honey
These are the basic ingredients we use. We’ll share more in a moment on the different ways to spice up this simple recipe with different ingredients.

blueberries
There’s two ways to go about using blueberries for your parfait. You can use fresh or frozen. Both will be delicious! I typically go for fresh berries because we usually have blueberries ready in our fridge. Everyone in my house would eat blueberries instead of candy so they are kind of a big deal here. The argument for frozen blueberries though is that they don’t require pre-washing so if you’re looking for ultra fast and easy go with frozen!
When using fresh blueberries, take the extra step to pre-wash them when you get them home from the grocery store or your garden. This means they’ll be ready to use or enjoy whenever you’re ready! Then you can just pour them strait onto your parfait at the right time. It also means you can eat them by the hand-full as a quick snack whenever you want!
How to wash & store fresh blueberries
I like to start by pouring about 1/4 cup of white vinegar into a large bowl. Then, I fill the bowl 1/2-2/3 full of cold water. I dump the blueberries straight in and give them a swirl.
While the blueberries sit in the vinegar water for a few minutes, I wash the container they came in. I use warm water and soap just like I would washing a regular dish. Next, I dry the blueberry container, then dampen a paper towel. Folding the damp paper towel, it then goes in the bottom of the clean container.
Then I’m ready to grab the clean blueberries. I scoop them out of the vinegar water with a slotted spoon if I’m washing more fruit. The fastest way to get them out of the water is to pour the whole bowl over a strainer though. I’ll use that method if I’m done washing fruit for the day.
Next, lay out a dish towel and dump the blueberries on it. You can alternatively use paper towels for easier cleanup. I fold the edges of the towel inward and softly wipe it over the blueberries to get most of the excess moisture off. Once they are dry, pour them right back into the container they came in! Now you’ll have fresh blueberries handy when you’re ready for them!
yogurt
There really is no right or wrong answer when choosing which yogurt to use for your parfait. Each type of yogurt you’ll come across offers it’s own benefits ranging from the flavor it provides to the nutrition it offers.
Our personal favorite when making our parfait is using plain greek yogurt. There is so much flavor already added with the granola, blueberries, and honey that the greek yogurt is the perfect muted complement. It also adds a good bit of protein which is great to keep our hunger at bay.
granola
For an extremely easy granola, just grab a bag from the grocery store that is pre-made. Over the years I have found lots of delicious varieties from plain all the way to strawberries with chocolate. Like the yogurt varieties, there are lots of great, ready-made choices to try.
Personally, we make our own granola. It’s actually easier than you may think and comes together quickly. I’ve even baked a batch of granola while the kids are getting ready for school in the morning. Once it pops out of the oven, you can throw the parfait together in less than a minute!
My quick recipe for our granola is below if you want to give it a try! You can also add nuts before baking or dried fruits or chocolate chips after it cools. It stores well for up to a week in an airtight container so you can make a batch in advance and have it ready for a whole week of easy meals!
Our quick and easy granola recipe
- 1 cup oats
- 1 tablespoon agave
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl until oats are evenly coated.
- Spread oat, agave, and oil mixture onto a rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake on middle rack for 14-18 minutes, turning once 1/2 way through baking time.
- Once it starts to slightly brown it’s ready to pull out of the oven.
- Let cookie sheet rest until it cools completely before storing the granola.
honey
There are so many reasons to add honey to your blueberry parfait! It is sweet and pairs so perfectly drizzled over the fruit topping. Honey also is widely known to have an array of health benefits, especially if you use locally sourced honey. Some people are fine using about 1 teaspoon, but I am not most people so I usually load mine up with more like 1 tablespoon. Just ask my husband. I do the same thing with hot tea! I mean, it’s healthy right?

FINAL IDEAS AND THOUGHTS
This recipe tends to use ingredients most people already have in their refrigerators and pantries so it is a great one to have in a pinch! When it’s school time, I personally love making a blueberry parfait for my family for breakfast. Since my two boys are young, they love starting their day with a kick of sweetness. Let’s be honest, the adults in our house love it too!
I keep this parfait in my arsenal of easy recipes because of its flexibility of ingredients. The only limit with this recipe is your imagination. Each layer is completely customizable to your tastes. After making it a few times you may find you want to add strawberries, vanilla yogurt, chocolate chips in your granola, or maybe get sassy and add something like a drizzle of maple syrup or agave on top in place of the honey.
